ExpressDCP Terms of Service

Delivery Requirements:

Sound: Must be in the agreed format, accessible, delivered on the agreed media and in sync with the picture. If not in sync, a "2-pop" should be supplied 48frames before the first frame of the film.

Picture: Must be in agreed format, accessible and delivered on the agreed media.

Image Sequences: Must conform to the following rules:

  • File names must be in CAPS.
  • File names should not contain any spaces. Spaces should be replaced with an underscore "_".
  • Frame numbering must start as frame 1.
  • Each frame should have an extension such as .DPX or .CIN.
  • Frame numbers must be correctly padded with "0" so that there is a digit for each figure that makes up the number of frames in the image sequence. For example, if there are 100,000 frames in an image sequence, frame 1 should read as "000001"
  • File names should be consistent throughout the image sequence.
  • Where image sequences are broken down into "parts" the numbering must remain consistent. For example, if frames "001-100" are in part 1, the first frame of part 2 should be "101"
  • ExpressDCP should not have to remove, replace or edit any frames for the film to be the correct duration and in sync with the picture.

Subtitles: Delivered in the XML format, accessible and delivered on the agreed media.

Look-Up Tables (LUTS): Delivered from the agreed source, accessible and delivered on the agreed media.

All media such as hard drives, DVDs, Blu-rays and Thumb Drives must be fully operational, verified and scanned for computer viruses.

DCP Master hard drives supplied to us must comply to the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI). If they do not, ExpressDCP offer no guarantee that the finished DCP will be compatible with digital cinema equipment.

You, the Client, agree that:

ExpressDCP is in no way responsible for financial losses resulting from equipment failure, loss of material, missed deadlines or failed delivery or any other circumstances beyond its control.

If material is not delivered according to ExpressDCP's delivery requirements set out above, ExpressDCP will charge for any work undertaken to correct the material at the rate of 200 UK Pounds per hour. An opportunity to resubmit material or cancel the order will be offered to the client before work commences.

ExpressDCP is not responsible for any damage or failure of customers' hard drives, thumb drives, DVDs or any other media submitted to us.

Where DCP Hard Drives are rented from ExpressDCP for cinema distribution, the hardware remains the property of ExpressDCP and the client is responsible for any damage caused to the hardware resulting from misuse. The client agrees to replace, repair or pay for any damage caused.

We, ExpressDCP, agree that:

Our Digital Cinema Packages are compliant to the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) and Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE).

ExpressDCP will offer the client a choice of a refund or a replacement in any one of the following circumstances:

  • The digital cinema package (DCP) fails to play on a fully operational DCI compliant Digital Cinema Server.
  • The DCP contains corrupt or abnormal images or sound files that were not in the client's original master submitted to ExpressDCP.
  • A DCP hard drive is lost, damaged or stolen whilst on our premises or with our couriers.
  • A cinema is unable to unlock a DCP using the supplied Key Delivery Message (KDM) even after reasonable attempts at technical support have failed.

Refunds or replacements will be given in full where every copy of the DCP is affected by the above circumstances. If not all copies of the DCP are affected, refunds will only be given for the affected copies.

An abnormality must be detectable to human eyes / ears. Artefacts caused by JPEG2000 or MPEG compression are not abnormal.

Where a refund is given, the DCP must be returned on its original media and not exhibited.

Express DCP will protect the client's digital assets according to the standards set out by the Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT).

ExpressDCP will take all reasonable precautions to protect the client's digital assets from theft, loss or damage.

ExpressDCP will offer 24 hour telephone support for cinemas unlocking DCPs using a Key Delivery Message (KDM) supplied by them for the duration of the film's exhibition.

Should ExpressDCP, for any reason, terminate its operations, reasonable efforts will be made to pass responsibility for KDM management onto another company agreed by both ExpressDCP and the client.
